FX UNDER FIRE

FX fans have one of their favorite new shows ripped from them as the TV network’s streaming platform won’t renew the program for a second season.

Shogun is a Feudal Japan-set limited series that is FX’s latest breakout hit.

Within the first week of Shogun being streamable on HuluDisney+, and Star+, the action-packed series obtained 9 million streams worldwide, Collider reported Friday.

Not to mention, it received stellar reviews from critics.

The adaptation of the 1975 James Clavell novel of the same name is having as much success this go-round as it did when the first original miniseries adaptation aired on television in 1980.

During its run in 1980, “a quarter of U.S. households tuned in while it aired,” the news outlet revealed.

Despite all of the positive feedback the 2024 reboot has been getting, the culturally significant program isn’t going to have a second season.

Shogun’s showrunners Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo recently told The Hollywood Reporter that the ten-episode arc will cover James’ entire novel.

Justin and Rachel said: “We took the story to the end of the book and put a period at the end of that sentence.

We love how the book ends; it was one of the reasons why we both knew we wanted to do it — and we ended in exactly that place.
