The Republic of Ireland defender fulfilled his dream of playing for the Hoops when he joined on loan from Brighton during the 2020/21 season. But it ended in misery as Rangers won the Premiership title, ending the Hoops’ hopes of getting the bragging rights with 10 consecutive league trophies. A spokesperson for Norfolk Police said: “Police were called to Queen‘s Road, Hethersett, 21:05, on Monday May 6, following reports of a two-vehicle collision. “Emergency services attended the scene and a man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. “No one was injured.” Duffy responded through a spokesperson, confirming that he “has been charged with driving whilst unfit through drink, having provided an evidential breath sample of 102mcg.” A Norwich City spokesman said: “Norwich City Football Club is aware of an incident involving one of its first-team players. “The club is in the process of considering the matter internally in accordance with its own disciplinary procedure.” Duffy was due to play for Norwich against Leeds United in the Championship play-offs, with the first leg on Sunday. Duffy’s international and club team-mate Adam Idah join the Hoops on deadline day earlier this month and has revealed that he urged the striker not to make the same mistakes which he did. He said at the time: “I spoke to him [Adam Idah] quite a lot about it [Celtic] because we’re from the same country and I played there. “I just told him to go and enjoy it. I put too much pressure on myself when I went there because it’s a club I supported and didn’t want to let anyone down. “It probably ended up as the opposite, where I didn’t do as well as I should have done there, I let the pressure get to me, all my friends and family are Celtic fans. “I said to him to go and enjoy it and be yourself, don’t put too much pressure on yourself, it’s one of the best football clubs in the world and he’ll realise how big it is when he gets there.” Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
