Hoseasons Drimysnie Holiday Village is perfect place for a family holiday with arcade, swimming pool & activities

OUR recent family holiday  could  easily be described as the ‘great pottery hoe down’, with my two sons as stars of the show. Because when Alvy and Lenny discovered a  kids ceramics workshop   at the fabulous Hoseasons Drimsynie Holiday Village in Argyll we could hardly drag them away. Drimsynie is a stunning resort Lenny and Alvy had a great time at a pottery workshop The luxury lodge had a spiral staircase But luckily this stunning resort also has a disco and the boys don’t need to get asked twice to get down on the dance floor. Mum and dad? Well we loved the hours spent in a luxury lodge with views overlooking Loch Goil,  surrounded by glorious hilly terrain. Even spells of lashing rain couldn’t dampen our spirits, the resort’s scenery is stunning no matter what the weather chucks at it. With so much to occupy the children we couldn’t go wrong. The pottery workshops on offer cost just £10. Alvy, six, made a multi-coloured cup, while Lenny, four, crafted a dinosaur. And both made a right old mess doing it, interspersed with squeals of laughter. The facility at the heart of the sprawling estate also includes an arcade and soft play as part of Rusty’s Funhouse. My eldest loved getting a strike at a mini bowling game and my youngest was thrilled at getting tickets you can trade in for prizes at a 2p slot game. Good old fashioned fun. The resort also has it’s  own swimming pool where both boys took delight in splashing their dad and even at the lodge we spent a fair bit of time getting wet  in  our very own  hot tub,  drinking in the views. The lodge has a  staircase to the roof, complete with loungers, for  those occasions when Scotland is blessed with balmy temperatures. The view from there is, unsurprisingly,   even better. The luxury home from home has everything you’ll need, including television, kitchen with all mod cons, including  cooker, and dishwasher. But if cooking on a break isn’t your idea of a holiday, then fret not, the resort also has its own aptly named the View restaurant with  panoramic vistas of the Loch. The staff  are  very friendly and the food is  great. We had burgers all round and not a word of complaint. After food step outdoors  where you can take in the stunning scenery in the fresh air and  enjoy an after dinner  tipple. A takeaway next door  serves pizza, fish and chips, ice-cream and other favourites. We didn’t need to think twice about heading there one night for a delicious dinner to enjoy in front of the TV. The resort offers a range of activities including laser tag, archery and fencing. There’s also a range of thrilling challenges perfect for adrenaline like paddle boarding, gorge walking, and abseiling. My eldest got the chance to build a teddy bear —  well his turned out to be a wolf he christened William! — at the cost of £20 during our stay. Other activities aimed at  younger guests include sand art, slime making and a superhero academy. There’s also an on site spa is available for those looking for a bit of pampering. GO: DRIMSYNIE STAYING THERE: Three nights self-catering in a classic pet-friendly 3-bedroom lodge, sleeping up to six, is  from £389 in May or a week is from £619. Three nights in June from £489 or a week from £844, again for up to six sharing a 3-bedroom lodge. One pet maximum which costs £39. MORE INFO: See hoseasons.co.uk Evening entertainment includes the kids fave   disco  in the Rob Roy Suite, which, luckily for mum and dad and all the other non-hoe downers,  also has a bar. A golf simulator and a nine-hole lochside golf course will keep golfers happy and a cinema room with the  latest blockbusters will keep all movie fans quiet. In fact there is so much to do  that you could easily enjoy your whole trip without leaving the resort at all. But  on the off chance you can drag yourself away from Drimsynie, then you won’t have to travel far to get to Loch Lomond or the  endless picturesque villages nearby. Us? Well Alvy and Lenny weren’t too interested in getting out and about. They just wanted to head back to the ceramics workshop to make their next creation.
