Kilmarnock KO bid for Danny Armstrong as Derek McInnes stands firm on winger’s price-tag
KILMARNOCK have rejected a six-figure bid for winger Danny Armstrong. The key player is out of contract in the summer, and heading for the exit at Rugby Park. SunSport revealed Hearts are also keen on Armstrong, 27, who joined Killie from Raith Rovers in 2021 and has made 144 appearances. And while he could sign a pre-contract, the Jambos could yet try to tempt the Rugby Park board with an offer. Meanwhile, Derek McInnes will give on-loan Liverpool full-back Calvin Ramsay a debut against Celtic on Saturday night. The defender has struggled for game time at Anfield since his £6.5million move from Aberdeen in 2022, with loans to Preston, Bolton and Wigan. He’s barely played due to injury. McInnes said: “I phoned Luke Chambers, who was on loan here from Anfield two years ago, to see if he could get in about Calvin. “I got Matty Kennedy to phone him too and I also spoke to him. “Our recruitment chief Russ Richardson played a big part given his connections there too, and Paul Sheerin was Calvin’s reserve manager at Aberdeen. “There were other Premiership clubs who wanted the player, and a few clubs in England were keen. “But once we agreed a deal with Liverpool, thankfully he chose us. “We were really pleased because we had to react quite late to it. “We have a very good relationship with Liverpool. It’s a great club. “You see other clubs getting all of these partnerships and synergy with each other, but a lot of that is financial. It’s way short of that. It’s quite common now for owners and companies to have so many fingers in pies in different countries. “I’m pretty sure that a club like us could really benefit from that in terms of having that commercial and financial partnership. “With Liverpool, it’s because we’ve got good relationships with good people. That helps. “In this instance, we’ve had Chambers and James Balagizi here. “They were delighted with Luke, and happy with how James was treated, being part of a successful season even although his minutes were limited. “It’s up to Calvin now to show what he’s all about. “Clubs like ourselves and Liverpool can only hope for the right intentions, and that he goes back to them in a good place. “I fully believe that is a real possibility. “He’s a talented boy. Calvin at his best has got such a huge reach. He can be under the eyes of the Scotland manager by playing at Kilmarnock too. “Playing in a familiar league and under people he knows — hopefully it’s a positive outcome for us all.” Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
