The North Macedonia international has struck 44 goals 96 games for the Dons, including 26 in all competitions last season. That superb goalscoring form has attracted plenty of interest from across the continent. Newly promoted La Liga outfit Espanyol were first to show their hand but Aberdeen rejected the bid that fell well short of their asking price. English Premier League side Southampton and Serie A club Genoa emerged as potential suitors earlier this week with reports suggesting both clubs were preparing to make their move. But now, another club has entered the fray. According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Girona are ‘very close’ to sealing a deal to take Miovski to La Liga. Their report says they have ‘chosen’ Miovski as their replacement for Artem Dovbyk who joined Roma last week in a bumper deal. Mundo claim that an ‘agreement in principle’ has been reached but that nothing has yet been finalised. Girona were the surprise package in La Liga last season as the contended for the title for much of the season. In the end, they secured a stunning third placed finish and qualification for the Champions League for the first time in their history. Despite all the talk surrounding his future, Miovski started and played a major role in the Dons’ 2-0 win over St Johnstone on Monday night with boss Jimmy Thelin praising his attitude. Girona are part of the City Football Group, the parent company that runs a host of clubs including English champions Manchester City. Aberdeen have also just signed a player FROM another one of the City Group’s clubs. They’ve landed former Man City midfielder Ante Palaversa from French club Troyes. He was a £7million signing for City in 2019 but failed to make a first team appearance. After joining Aberdeen, Croatia youth international Palaversa said: “I feel I need to take this opportunity at Aberdeen to prove myself and get my career back on track. “I know it is a big Club and having spoken to the manager I know we all want to deliver success. “I’m a creative midfielder, I like to play football and I believe I will get my chance here. “I want to do my best for myself, the team and the supporters.” Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
