Rangers vs Dundee preview

Rangers’ title hopes rely on a freak set of results this week after Saturday’s disappointing derby showing.

Philippe Clement’s side were second best in the first half and were probably glad to only be 2-0 down after John Lundstram’s OG. Cyriel Dessers’ goal five minutes before the break got them right back into things and gave hope for the second half.

That hope was distinguished in first half added time when Lundstram ‘s first half went from bad to ridiculous after a stupid challenge saw him sent off before the break.

They huffed and puffed in the second period and it looked like something good could happen when Jack Butland saved Matt O’Riley’s penalty.

But Joe Hart didn’t really have a save to make and it’s left Gers six points behind with two games to go. Their goal difference is seven short of Celtic’s too so they need a big win here to put a small doubt in their rival’s minds.

The Hoops need just a point over the next two games to clinch the title but they could have it handed to them if Gers drop points here.

For Dundee, they’re now five points behind St Mirren in the race for fifth and know only three points at Ibrox keep those chances going into the final day.

The goalless draw between the two just last month was a killer blow to Rangers who had looked like storming to league glory before a defeat to County was followed by the Dark Blues draw.

Todd Cantwell was an unused substitute in the derby on Saturday which maybe shows what Philippe Clement thinks about him.

Even when chasing a goal, he was left to sit and watch as the likes of Nico Raskin and Scott Wright were thrown on in the latter stages.

He’ll have a point to prove and likely will come back in from the start here given Tom Lawrence’s anonymous display at Celtic Park.
