I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me,” she said. Selena is very open to adoption, as her mother was adopted as a baby. “It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.” Before dating Benny, Selena was single for five years and set a plan for herself that she wanted to start a family by the age of 35. The announcement came after she ended her 2013 tour to check herself into a rehab center to undergo treatment. “I was diagnosed with lupus, and I’ve been through chemotherapy. That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke,” Selena told the outlet. Chemotherapy can be used to treat different forms of lupus. Selena told People in 2016 that she was experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, and depression because of the disease. KIDNEY TRANSPLANT As a result of her lupus, the singer had to undergo a kidney transplant in 2017. “So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health,” she shared on Instagram at the time. Her friend and actress Francia Raisa donated Selena her new kidney. “There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis,” Selena wrote. The transplant helped move her lupus into remission.
